One of the coolest books I’ve picked up in 2011. Make sure to get it, it’s cheap and it will probably be sold out soon. The exhibition is coming soon to the Hammer in Los Angeles, although I’ve heard the catalogue is better than the exhibition.

We received this zine in the mail the other day from Texas illustrator/printer Rand Renfrow. He recently graduated with a BFA in printmaking and communication design from Texas State.

This zine is full of playful still life drawings that would brighten anyones day up. I’d recommend stopping by his store and picking something up, he has lots of great prints!

You can either contribute a full page at 10×14 (vertical) or a half page at 10×7 (horizontal). We will be screen printing the entire zine so please make your pieces printing friendly – that means no strokes smaller than 1px and all images half toned at a decent dpi. All files should be black & white.

Files are due October 10th, 2011 (two weeks from today) to info@wearefisk.com.

We won’t be able to put everyone’s contributions in the printed piece due to page count but we will be making an online zine that will showcase all of the contributors. The printed zine will be curated but all submissions will be online.

We are hoping to have a release party/opening in Stevenson Blanch (a gallery on campus at CalArts) sometime around Halloween where all submissions will be showcased.

Our friends over at the RRR Project have released a new publication celebrating this years Earth Day. The ezine features many artists, designers, illustrators from around the world. A printed version is in the works but for now view the ezine or check out previous issues. Go Scott Massey!

RRR.003 comes to us, perhaps for the last time, on Earth Day 2011 – we honor our Mother Earth by joining together as a community of makers to reflect on all that she gives us, the good and the bad – the experience of being apart of something bigger than ourselves. On this third strike, we acknowledge that it’s not too late to rescue ourselves from the seemingly endless spate of wreckage and start tomorrow to rebuild, or even better, start today. Our friends over at Proxart, an organization making an effort to bring art and culture to suburbia, has just announced that the second issue of their magazine is available in print at Magcloud. Previously, the last two issues of their magazine have been available as a PDF so it’s very exciting to see them make the move to the tangible. Congratulations! FISK will be collaborating on projects with Proxart in the future to support the crisis in suburbia.
